Going for an exchange in a foreign country was indeed an adventure for me. From taking the plane, to settling minor details making sure that my stay was going to be fine, was tiring but I gelt that the experience was really fruitful. I learnt to be independent though back home, I am already an independent girl, who knows how to take care of herself. But this time, I was all alone, without my parents. I have to make sure that my laundry, groceries and etc. have to be done or else I may not have clothes to wear the next day, or be hungry because I forget to stock up some food. In fact, I love the feeling of just being alone, having a lot of "ME" time. It makes me understand myself better. It allows me to think about my future, my present and what should I do during my stay in a foreign country. People, culture and school were pretty awesome. I have a good bunch of amazing friends from all over the world, mainly Europe, Australia and Hong Kong. The weekly dinner gathering is something that I am missing now. The joy of cooking for my friends and enjoying a meal together is a feeling that cannot be described with mere words. In addition, I have good friends who I called them as my "parents" because they took care of me very well, some even helped me when I was away flying around Europe. I am glad that my yearbook series made everyone smiled at the end of this journey. It is the best memory for me since the day I become an adult. I can only thank God for this amazing time. I also have to thank my home university for the opportunity to go to such a beautiful city to study and experience life in a different way.
Besides that, I learn to be more adventurous and headed out to the city alone a few times to witness magical moments that took my soul away. I even picked up longboarding and made new friends. It was an unexpected gift and I love the interaction I have with the longboarding friends. I wished I could just head back to Istanbul now.
Seriously without them, my exchange experience will be boring. I miss exchange and my friends from all over the world!
I took some photos of my amazing university that hosted me when I was in Istanbul:
The main area of the university
The sports centre/ art centre
The place where my friends and I frequent for meals and meetups (: this place is full of memories. We even jumped into that pond on our last few nights together.
My amazing art school (:
